Happy Friday!
We had our first library day on Thursday! Students will have taken the books home to read 🕮 Please bring your books back on Thursday to renew and/or get new books.
The students practiced reading to their peers. They also started a Spanish project called "Todo Sobre Mi". In this project, the students use the phrases and vocabulary that we have been practicing to describe themselves and their interests. These phrases and vocabulary include:
- Mi nombre es...
- Yo tengo ____ años
- Mi fruta favorita es...
- Mi vegetal favorito es...
- Mi color favorito es...
- Describir el color de un objeto, e.g., El sol es de color amarillo
We practiced skip counting by 2's, 5's, 10's, and 25's to 100! During math class we played 'SCOOT!' and added a challenge to pick a number between 10-100 and to represent that number using tally marks (marcas de conteo), a number line (línea de números), or an equation (ecuación).
In English Language Arts, we learnt about the three parts of a story: the beginning, the middle, and the end! During our class discussion, we brainstormed how to identify the parts of a story in "The Crocodile Who Didn't Like Water".
In Art, we practiced blending colours using our crayons! We had fun with this! Ask us to show you how to blend colours using crayons at home 🖍 We used our skill of blending crayon colours to make a colour wheel of "Los Colores". We learnt about primary, secondary, and tertiary colours! Ask us what the three primary colours are!

- Swim Forms went home yesterday (Thursday, September 15th)! Please bring back signed forms ASAP!
- On Monday, September 19, Dalhousie School will observe a moment of silence in to mark the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. All CBE School and workplaces will remain open as scheduled.
- Please see the separate email that was sent regarding Parent Teacher Interviews, which will be held on Thursday, September 22 and Friday, September 23. The conference booking application is currently experience technical issues and you may not be able to book at the initially indicated time. We thank you for your patience.
- Due to Parent Teacher Interviews, there is no school for all students on Friday, September 23. It is a full day of school for all students, including Tuesday/Thursday Kindergarten students on Thursday, September 22.
- Dalhousie students and families will be participating in the annual Terry Fox run. The run will be held at the school on September 26 at 1:45 PM. Donations can be made online to the Terry Fox foundation under Dalhousie School. Students are also encouraged to bring a Toonie for Terry on the day of the run.
- School photos will take place on September 27 for the Tuesday/Thursday Kindergarten group, Grades 1, 3 and 5. On September 28, the Monday/Wednesday Kindergarten group as well as Grades 2 and 4 will have their pictures taken. Please note that it will be the individual as well as the class photos. A retake date will be confirmed.
