ELA
This week in English we worked at centres and have started to use Raz-Kids again. I am hoping by the end of next week all students will be up and running. We had a couple of mini-lessons on feelings and the students created a mini-booklet to help them handle and describe their emotions. The Grade 5 buddies also visited and shared their work in both Spanish and English. Finally, we have worked on understanding the difference between fact and opinion. Will will work on persuasive writing and supporting our opinions with reasons and examples.
MAT
In Mathematics, we continued with measurement, two-digit addition and subtraction. We are starting to focus more on subtraction though building understanding of both at the same time. The students were challenged to find and measure 5 objects in the class that added up to between 80-100cm. This incorporated both addition and measurement.
ESP
In Spanish the students started some new centres focusing on syllables, writing, reading and building vocabulary. We have mostly finished up our Casas and many students have started to bring them home. Please have your child describe their house in both Spanish and English. All of the students did a good job on this project.
SS
We continued studying about the Arctic and the Inuit and did some Inuit based art today.
